    Setting:

Violet's world is a modern one -- a version of America with supernatural elements to it. Besides werewolves there are also other shape shifters and witches as well. No vampires though. Most people are more or less aware of the supernatural, it's been common knowledge for a long, long time.

Of course, not everyone likes them, so plenty do hide what they are from people in order to assimilate better with society, get jobs find love, etc. Wolves tend not to do this though, they usually form packs and live in little communities out in the country outside of cities. Violet's pack in particular lived a little outside of Portland.

The communal lifestyle is extremely important to the wolves in this world -- even if a young child loses it's parents the rest of the pack raises them as their own. No one leaves anyone behind. This is why Omegas are treated with such disdain. It is against nature to leave your pack -- unless you've found another one. But to be on your own? It simply isn't done.

The government and law enforcement generally leaves packs alone -- and that goes for most other supernatural groups as well. The humans don't want to get caught up in their messes. This means a lot of blind eyes being turned when it comes to mysterious deaths and "accidents". Ignorance is bliss, after all. People sometimes just seemingly disappear and most people learn not to ask about it

    History:

Violet's parents were Richard Delaney and Brenna Lane -- they didn't marry for love but rather to join two packs together. However, while not in love they did love one another and their twin daughters. On June 2nd, 1995 Brenna gave birth to identical twins, Violet and Viola. Violet was born first, making her five minutes older than Viola. Not that it matters. (But it did when they were like, five. It mattered a lot then).

Violet and her sister are raised by the community as a whole as much as their parents themselves, all the kids in the pack are raised like this. So when their parents die in a car crash when they're five it's sad but it doesn't destroy them. Their "Aunt" Kim takes them in officially, but everyone pitches in and helps. They were never left wanting when it came to love and attention.

Viola made friends with a lot of the other kids in the pack -- Violet mostly keeps to her sister. She was more withdrawn, more sullen and unsure of herself. Besides, she thinks no one will ever understand her like Viola. Sometimes she swears they can read each other minds.

They're home schooled within the community. Violet in particular excels in English. She also does surprisingly well when they start teaching her how to cook -- something about it feels very natural to her.

When they're ten years old they shift for the first time, like all wolves do. It's painful and excruciating, more than any kid should ever have to endure and yet they manage to survive it. They fall asleep curled up next to one another as wolves. This would happen a lot. They'd wake up the next morning, girls again.

When they were twelve Violet found a stray Akita she named Rascal. It was then that she discovered one of the many perks of being a werewolf is the ability to communicate with other canines. Other than her sister, Rascal was her only friend. And still is, really.

As they got older, Viola wanted a real life more and more. She talked about when they turned eighteen and how they could go see the world. They could do anything they wanted. They didn't have to stay in this little commune, not if they didn't want to. Violet didn't share her sister's sentiments. She didn't really have goals. She couldn't see herself in college or working some low level job or any of the other things that would have been considered normal to do. She didn't really know what she wanted to do with her life. It scared her, Viola had all these dreams -- sometimes Violet didn't think she could keep up.

The first time she found her sister with a boy Violet ended up hitting him -- more than a couple of times. He was another one of the kids they grew up with -- she didn't see what her sister saw in him, couldn't understand it really.

When they turn eighteen everything changes. That first full moon after is different. When they transform something vicious overcomes the two sisters. They snarl and snap and bite and eventually, Violet wins. She kills her sister as a wolf. When she wakes up the next morning she's covered in Viola's blood, clutching her dead corpse. She later learned that this wasn't uncommon with werewolf twins, that when they turned of age one would eventually want to become dominance. The others in her pack even say that she has the makings of an alpha for it. It makes her feel sick.

So she packs up the few things she actually cares about and she leaves. She heads up to Washington for a while and then eventually loops back down to Oregon and then California. She never stays any place more than few weeks at a time. She doesn't allow herself to create roots or friends or any sort of real connection, not anymore. She doesn't deserve that. Who's to say she wouldn't do it again? Kill anyone she gets close to. Take them out before they could leave her. (Viola would of left her, she thinks). It's after about a year of these patterns that she ends up in Teleios, not at all ready to earn anything close to "Utopia".

    Personality:

Violet is antisocial by nature. Her sister was the people person -- Violet prefers to keep to herself. She doesn't really trust most people, and even if she does like them she doesn't really know how to interact with them well. She tends to be too blunt or put her foot in her mouth more often than not. So she finds it easier not to engage. It's kind of the coward's way out really, avoiding the problem by not letting it exist at all. She never claimed to be brave. She never claimed to be much of anything. She also gets extremely nervous around people. Like they'll see that darkness she knows inside of her. They'll see what she is and they'll reject.

She's possessive of the few she does care about, to an almost unhealthy degree. This was the most evident when her sister was alive. As twins it made sense for them to be close but Violet too it to unhealthy degrees. She didn't want them to grow up and have their own lives. She wanted it to just always be the two of them. Like it had always been. She couldn't imagine life any other way. She didn't want to.

(there's a part of hew that wonders if maybe she meant to kill Viola. If she couldn't have her to herself nobody could have her at all.)

She tens to act on impulse more often than not. Violet is the type of person to act first and thing later, which has gotten her in trouble more than a few times. It's gotten her in a few different fights over the years, for starters. She has a pretty sizeable temper (like most werewolves do, they're hotblooded, after all) and she doesn't always have the best control over it. She's wild and territorial. Sometimes she feels like more wolf than girl.

Because of the accident where she killed her sister as a wolf she's become very reclusive. She never liked socializing much to begin with but now she's downright antisocial. She disengages as quickly and as often as possible. The more people try to help her the more likely she is to try to pull away from them. Mostly because she doesn't believe she can be helped. Or that she deserves to be. The closest thing she has to an actual friend is her dog, Rascal. She's had him since she was a kid and he's one of the few she's connected to outside of her family and pack. Werewolves can talk to other canines in her world, so it really is something like a real friendship. He tends to be her voice of reason -- which is good because she often really needs one.

She feels guilty all the time. She dreams about her sister's death constantly, traumatized by what she's done. It's part of why she draws away from the world as much as she does now. She doesn't think she deserves anything good now, not after what she's done. She can't imagine redemption for herself, anything that could just make things okay. It doesn't matter that this something that happens with almost all werewolf twins, that it's been happening since Romulus and Remus. She can't forgive herself and she can't move forward.

She's very much emotionally stunted in a lot of ways due to a mixture of her upbringing and the trauma of killing her own sister. She's never dated or connected with anyone on a romantic level -- she wouldn't know how to, she honestly isn't even sure what she would be interested in if she did. She can't imagine herself living out the rest of her years with a significant other by her side. Or anyone. Besides, her sister had been the one who wanted to fall in love, have a family, have a real place to call home.

In many ways she's also quite aimless. Her sister had dreams and goals. She knew where she wanted to go to college, what to study -- all of that. The things you're supposed to know by now. Violet doesn't know what she wants to do with her life. There's nothing she feels particularly good at -- except maybe cooking. And even that isn't something she's ever considered seriously pursuing as far as jobs go. She's kept up a few odd jobs here and there but eventually she always just moves on. It's hard to get her to commit, to tie down roots. Because she'd rather keep moving, keep running. If you just keep going the tragedy of everything can't catch up with you, right? Besides, her parents had put aside quite a bit of money to her and her sister in a trust fund -- might as well make the best of it while she can, right?

Her pain tolerance is extremely high, partly because she's been turning since she was ten years old. There isn't much she can't endure, really. This includes hunger and lack of sleep -- which means she doesn't tend to take good care of herself more often than not. She skips meals, has chronic insomnia and in general just gets stuck in survival mode instead of actually surviving.

She's always been an avid reader, she likes books because they provide her with an escape. Instead of dealing with her own issues for once she can deal with somebody else's. It's nothing permanent but it's at least a temporary release. It's a start.

Even though she left the commune she tends to prefer living the way she did there. She often stays in little tents and cabins versus a real house or apartment. She likes to feel as connected to earth as possible. Besides, she likes to live near the woods for practical reasons. Despite everything that's happened, she likes shifting. She feels freer as a wolf than she ever has as a girl. Like she doesn't have to hold anything back. She can be the real her, animalistic and deadly, if she wants to be. Her brain becomes more simple and everything becomes more simple. Sometimes she wishes she would never turn back. But nothing is ever that easy, is it?

She’s not really going to know what do about being in Teleios, while her number isn’t really high she still feels like she doesn’t deserve something as nice sounding as utopia. It’s a work in progress.

[Violet wakes up on the temple floor and she doesn't know what she did to get there. She doesn't even remember falling asleep, she doesn't sleep very well these days, but there it is all the same. She looks around, trying to gauge the situation.

She listens to the girl in the front talking -- she thinks her name is Gloria but she wasn't paying that good of attention, really. But apparently there's no way home. And they're supposed to be working off debt to earn Utopia.

She didn't realize this was the sort of thing you could quantize, how much you've fucked up or not. She doesn't want to know her number, she assumes it has to be high. How could it be anything else?

She doesn't trust it anyway, there has to be a catch, something they aren't telling them. That always seems to be the case in her experience. So she doesn't approach anyone, not yet. Instead she listens and waits.
    ]

Well, I guess I should be glad they'd don't beat around the bush about things.

[Okay, so maybe she's at least going to snark a little. She can't help herself.]
